AMSA Aztex Cup

AMSA Cup Returns with a New Name

In order to provide greater competition and a break from regular league play, the Austin Men’s Soccer Association is proud to announce the AMSA Aztex Cup.  The AMSA Aztex Cup will pit all league teams that choose to play in single elimination intra-league competition.

Why  the Aztex name?  AMSA has partnered with the Austin Aztex (Austin’s new professional soccer franchise) for the Cup.  One result of that partnership will be that the final of the AMSA Aztex Cup will be played right before a regular season Austin Aztex match in May.

The AMSA Aztex Cup will be a random draw tournament with teams eligible for each round placed into the draw.

AMSA Aztex Cup Rules
  1. All game pairings will be determined by random draw after the eligible teams have been determined.
  2. All games will be played to AMSA rules.  Each game will be played to the league standard 90 minutes.  AMSA Cup games that end in a tie will go immediately to a standard penalty kick.
  3. Each team will be responsible for the usual referee game fees.  There are no additional costs to compete.
  4. Although all efforts will be made to play all Cup games on Sundays, when we have rainouts, regular season games will take precedence over Cup play, so Cup games may be bumped to later dates.  If needed, games may be scheduled on weekdays, Saturdays, or multiple games on a Sunday to complete the Cup competition.
  5. Once a team loses an AMSA Aztex Cup game, they will be eliminated from the tournament.
